Salma Hayek and Rubber Ducks In a Red Wagon.

People often say that 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder.
~
This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves.
-Salma Hayek

....So apparently Salma Hayek is beautiful, a fabulously talented actress and uber wise?! ¡ay Dios mío!

I'm glad you enjoyed yesterday's seven random facts. I'd totally forgotten about "Titanic 2" until recently while cleaning my room. And by cleaning I mean digging through piles of clothes, papers and other randomness. I discovered a sheet of printer paper with PROP LIST scribbled across the top. Apparently we needed to find a blue heart shaped necklace and a bathtub full of rubber ducks before we could start the casting process.

It was funny to look at the list (Rubber ducks?) and reminisce on fun that the friend and I had together. I remember mischievous antics such as using an English/Russian dictionary to prank call a hotel in Moscow and reserve a table for a romantic dinner, complete with champagne and strawberries. The memories saddened me as well. I haven't had fun like that in a long time, and the friend and I lost touch and drifted apart. I got wrapped up in my ED and she eventually moved on. But, while bittersweet, remembering these good times gives me hope that I can have fun like that again.

While the belief that if you are sick people will love and take care of you may be true initially, eventually most people get tired of it and have to move on in order to live their own lives. It's like you're sitting at the base of a hill in a red wagon refusing to get out and pull it, forcing others to drag both the you thrashing and screaming plus wagon. Eventually even those who are most devoted grow frustrated and move on, leaving you to either slide back down the hill or get out and pull yourself up. At least that has been my experience! So now I'm trying my best to scramble up that hill, yanking my little red wagon up behind me.

I'm loving reading your answers to the Essence Game. Through learning what type of underwear/flower/animal you would be I feel as though getting to know you a lot better, weird as that may sound. Who would have thought knowing someone "is" a pair of boys shorts could be so telling? Keep the answers coming!

If I was a ______, I would be....

Chartoon character- Chip from Beauty & the Beast
Fruit- almost ripe persimmon (I've never tried one, so I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. And if I were to eat it now I'd feel like a cannibal... But with myself.)

i really like the red wagon analogy, i've been waiting for someone else to get my but into gear rather than doing it myself as i should.

  3. Of COURSE you can still have fun! The only thing stopping you from having fun is fun-police in the back of your midn. BUT THEY DONT EVEN EXIST. So, unarrest yourself, and go prank another poor, unsuspecting Russian man. ;)

I can't tell you how much I love this game!
Cartoon Character: The Mad Hatter from Alice, or Crumb from Arrgghh! Real Monsters!
Fruit: Fig! Or a dragon fruit, just because they look cool.
    Vegetable:
    Cheese: Cheddar
Article of Clothing: A Can-Can dress!
Shoe: Beat up Hi-Tops or a beat up pair of brown pirate boots covered in buckles and straps. Ooooh yeeeeah.

Sometimes, initially, we need help getting pulled up the hill in our red wagon, but sooner or later it will be up to US to pull it, because afterall, it's ours TO pull.

Lovely words, as always, my fellow swashbuckler.

    Love always,
    Eleanor. xo

    Shoe - furry boots

    hehe.

I laughed about Titanic 2 - I want to know what you were going to do with the rubber ducks! It's too easy to lose touch with friends. Could you send her a message or something to say hi? Reconnecting is often easier than you might imagine. You definitely have the time and potential to have fun again :) eating disorders are a pain in the ass, but people do recover and get on with their lives. It's great that you realise you have to do it yourself as well. You can always ask people for support and it's good to talk about things, but ultimately your recovery only depends on yourself. It's kind of scary, but also kind of liberating.

  11. Hi, just found your blog through Under the Stars and your words really struck me. I'm feeling the same way right now--like everyone else has gone on with their lives and left me behind while I've been sick. For me remembering good times is such a motivation but it's also saddening to think that I don't have the same chances for fun now. We just have to keep pulling our wagons I guess.

  12. I am now officially addicted to this game:

Chartoon character- In my dreams, Sonic the Hedgehog
    Fruit- Pear
    Vegetable- Pea
    Cheese- Nutritional yeast flakes :P
    Article of clothing- Well-worn fleece
    Shoe- Trainer

I loved this post as always. I'm not going to stop typing that until it's not true, and I suspect that day may never come. People gave up on/got bored with/couldn't cope with me too, which I suppose is understandable...but I honestly believe that the best friends stick around, no matter what. I am not going to lose faith in you, and I am sure there are many others who won't either. You may not be able to totally recapture the magic of those memories but there is a wide open future out there for the taking to make new ones.

  13. Selma Hayek is one smart cookie :P

I agree with Jessica - I think that our struggles can definitely 'weed' out the true friends in our lives. There will always be new beginnings, and new memories to be made :) Don't let ED bring you down!
