Turn That Frown Upside Down.

Yesterday I was at my grandmother's and unable to post. No bueno. Doubly no bueno was being locked out of her house for two hours. Let me explain. Everyone went to a restaurant and left me behind to hold down the fort. I saw a pretty leaf outside the window and went into the backyard to admire it, Closing the door behind me so no creepy crawlies would sneak in. Looked at leaf. Went to go back inside. Tugged on the door for five minutes before admitting defeat. I sat around on the grass for a while but was growing to get itchy and starting to come down with cabin (or rather, out of cabin) fever, so I decided to walk around the neighborhood. Let me tell you, I don't know why they gave the Hillside Strangler that name. Those are not hills, they are effing mountains. I felt like Sir Edmund Hilary scaling Mount Everest. Plus it was getting dark and I feared a pack of hungry coyotes were going to suddenly appear. What an awkward way to die, being eaten by a coyote. I heard a noise in the bushes and jumped at least a foot in the air but it was just a cute little bunny. So it was an adventure filled day, to say the least.

I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Why, you might ask? Well, Ayla (who has been daring and adventurous like a mofo lately) and Eleanor (the world's kindest and most beautiful pirate) gave me this...

The last time I won anything it was a handwriting award in fifth grade, so I was embarrassingly excited *insert spastic happy dance* to receive my first "official" blog award! I'm supposed to list ten things which make me happy and do at least one of them today. Then I pick ten more people... It's like a happiness chain! So let's get this party started.

1. This house.

2. Making people happy. I love giving someone a present that's perfect for them. As they open it I'm often more excited than they are, jumping around and giddy.

3. Music. I love my ipod (Juan Carlos Jr. Jr.) more than life itself. Which reminds me, I just got an itunes gift card. Do you guys have any recommendations?

4. Floaty dresses, preferably with tights. Wearing said dresses on the bus while blasting offensive rap music and watching the confused faces of shocked people.

5. Expecting a movie to suck and liking it. For some reason having anticipated awfulness makes the film even better when you are pleasantly surprised.

6. Manatees. Warning: cuteness may be too much to handle.

7. Good hair days. I have curly curly hair so even a minute when it's behaving is worth celebrating.

8. Quotes. Plus this one is from Salvador Dali, so I'm doubly delighted... Alliteration alert... Twice!

9. Castles made from playing cards. Except when they make me want to tear out my hair with frustration.. Then I'm not so happy.

10. And of course this beast.

The ten next people who I tag are *drumroll please!*

Katharina from Katharina's Food Adventures
Emily from emily finds it funny
Laura from Learning to Love
Kailey from Peanut Butter Bliss
Izzy from Something Good This Way Comes
Katie from Under the Stars
Lexi from Starlight Diner
Sophia from Burp and Slurp
ENJ from The Empty Nut Jar
Shelley from Finding Happiness and Health

Random, but do you ever feel like a bug is crawling on you but when you look there's nothing there? And then when you feel it but tell yourself that it's all in your head there actually is a bug?... Yeah, totally just happened to me.

P.S. A certain little carrot named Sam is having a giveaway... So check it out!

  7. Oh, you poor thing! You will look back on this moment, after getting over the embarrassment, and laugh on it! I've come to accept my embarrassing moments and embrace them! And your warm, fuzzy feeling might have been due to the bunny? ;)

Arrrr matey, me thinks your Beastie should come aboard our pirate ship, to warn off Davey Jones and his gastly crew!
...He sure does look terrifying(ly cute)!

    LOVE,
    Eleanor. xo

  13. Ahaha! I AM quite the daring little mofo lately, aren't I? That made me laugh so hard!
You getting locked out of the house so that you could look at a leaf.. haha. Sounds like something I would do. xD I'm glad the coyotes didn't get you!

Ugh, I feel the bugs all the time. Well, not ALL the time as that would probably indicate that something's wrong with me, but I definitely know what you mean. It bothers me.. and creeps me out. Then again, I'm always grateful to look and find nothing there, I'm not a fan of bugs.. except ladybugs.

  14. I love curly hair. My hair's dead straight without needing a straightener and when I curl it, it uncurls within a half hour. =( When I say curl I mean when my hair was long. Now I miss my long hair... Lol. But I'll leave the 'long hair' rant for another time on my blog perhaps. =)

    xx

  15. Ahhh I can't tell you how many times I've gotten locked out of my house and had to break in through windows... I guess my neighbors must be use to it 'cause no one's called the police on me yet.

Your happy list is a good one. Manatees = floating masses of cuteness. And sometimes I wish I had curly hair... mine is crazy straight so I definitely need some luck and good hair days...

  16. Oh my gosh YES! I get that feeling sometimes.. or like I have a strand of hair on my clothes or something and there's nothing there. Then eventually I find it and I'm like I KNEW IT!!! I KNEW IT WAS THERE!!

Your things that make you smile made me smile!! Manatees are soooo cute. They're just soo passive and squishy looking lol. Your curly hair reminds me of another good friend of mine's hair. I love it! One time when she was helping me move, a little girl walked up to her and said "you have beautiful hair!" It was so cute :) I swear, every post of yours brings a smile to my face. I really feel like I get a feel of who you are as a person the way that you write. You're so creative and I just love it :) I definitely have some music recommendations for you! No. 1 recommendation is Crystal Castles- Vanished. You will get your booty off the seat and start dancing around your room I promise.

    XOXOXO

p.s. thank you for the award mademoiselle!
